So I had the morning shift with Brooks and while I was changing him he decided it would be funny and pee all over me ( I guess its one of the perks of having a little boy :)) So obviously I needed to hop in the shower and rinse off, So I brought him down to Jake so he could keep and eye on him. After my shower I came back in the room and this is what I saw.... It's the little moments like this that make being a mommy the BEST thing in the world!!

Baby Brooks

Wow, What whirl wind! I finally have a second to sit down and blog. Sometimes i wonder what the heck I did with my days before this little man came! Brooks is now 2 and a half weeks old and consumes every minute of my life (In a good way). He makes me appreciate everything my mom and dad did for me even more! Being a parent truly is the BEST thing!

So now the story, most of ya'll already know what happened to me but for those of you that don't here It goes...

So I was 37 weeks and 4 days and this little boy was STILL breeched, so Jake and I went into the hospital so my Dr could attempt to turn him(this was a Thursday). Luckily we he was successful and was able to turn him head down. Jake and I had fancied the thought of going to his cabin with his family in Cedar City for the weekend, so i asked my Dr if he though it was a good idea. Dr smith checked me and said I was only at a 1 so he didn't see any harm in going. So Friday night we headed up to the cabin!

I was having contractions while i was there( at least that's what Jake's sisters said they were) They weren't bad at all so I honestly never though anything of it. Saturday went by smoothly and then Sunday was great! Then around 4:30 that afternoon I was feeling some weird stuff going on in my tummy. I was sitting on the couch holding my little niece and she started to fuss so I stood up and started to bounce her. Then all of a sudden it felt like something in my stomach just dropped and there was a little wet feeling( I honestly just though "oh wow that's weird, did I just pee myself") then literally 2 seconds later there was a gush of water, and I said "umm Katie I think my water just broke!"

I instantly started to cry cause I COULDN'T BELIEVE I was at Jake's cabin in Cedar City (with no service) and my water just broke!!!! We rushed in the car and started to head back to Salt Lake. As we were driving down the mountain I started to time how far apart my contractions were, and at this time they were about 25 min apart, So I was pretty calm and knew I would totally be fine, and we were gonna be able to get to the hospital in no time. As we got off the mountain and started heading north my contractions instantly started getting closer together( they were about 10 min apart) I was trying to stay really calm and not stress myself out.

By this time we had been through Beaver and were about 2 hours away, then all of a sudden the car is acting up! Jake was flooring it and it was only going 50 mph, and by this time my contractions were about 7 min apart. Jake had to literally stop the car get out and check the engine. I could NOT believe this was happening to me! Jake got back in the car and everything went back to normal... it was so weird!

By this time Jake had called the ambulance and told them that his wife was in labor and we were speeding so let the dispatch know not to pull us over. By the time we hit Nephi, my contractions were so bad I wasn't able to talk through them anymore, they were about 2 min apart and I couldn't help but breakdown and cry cause I was in such pain. Jake kept telling me to breath and stay as calm as possible, he promised me we would make it to the hospital! So that's what I did, kept calm and started to breath through my contractions.

Jake was hauling, going 120 through the Provo and American Fork construction, and every bump was so intense, I was squeezing Jake's arm trying to not think about the pain. Finally we arrived at the hospital around 8 and they had a nurse out front waiting for me.

I got up the the second floor and was put in a room ( the same room the flipped Brooks in) got my IV and the nurse went to check me. I was thinking in my head "Oh I bet I'm only a 2 or 3", but no she said I was about 90% effaced and dilated to a 6! The anesthesiologist came and gave me my epidural ( didn't hurt one bit, I don't know how women do this without one). It was sooo nice to have the drugs, I could relax and start calming myself down. I was so happy i made it to MY hospital, I was going to be able to get an epidural, and MY doctor was going to be able to deliver me! Around 945 the nurse came in again and checked me and said I was dilated to a 9! I couldn't believe it. Then about an hour later she came in again and checked me and said I was good to go! They called Dr. Smith and while he was on his way to the hospital I did some practice pushes. Dr. Smith finally got to the hospital and I pushed for about 10 to 15 min and BOOM! Brooks was here, 6 lbs 15 oz, and 20 inches long!!!!

It was the most amazing feeling I have ever had when they placed him on my chest and I was holding my little boy, I could believe that baby was mine ( oh, he is such a cutie) It was quite the experience and If I could change it, I would :) well the whole being in Cedar City part, haha! But Jake and I are so incredibly blessed to have Brooks apart of our family.

New House

So here's a glimpse of what our new little house looks like! We moved in about a month ago and it has been project after project! There is still sooo much work that needs to be done, but I thought I would show you some of it :) We love our neighborhood and the little community we belong to, It couldn't be more perfect for us and our new little family :)

Our backyard, we need to even it out a little more and put more sod down, but not until spring :) were also gonna put a shed down at the bottom by the creek for all of Jake's yard toys.

Another shot of the yard, We LOVE our deck, one day we will have furniture out there and possibly a grill :) We still need to sand and stain it so it looks prettier ;)

Guest bedroom that's upstairs, I want to put a stencil on the back wall, just haven decided what pattern I want to do, any suggestions??

Last shot of the living room. It still needs different things here and there but I'm so tired of decorating. I wish my mom could just come in and do it all for me! I don't know how she does it every day!

So there it is, our new little house! I will get some downstairs pictures as soon as I'm closer to being finished. It has been a big whirl wind ever since we got back from DC. I feel like I still have so much to do and no patience to get it done. I just hope everything can be "semi" done before the baby comes, oh the joys of moving :) at least we wont have to do it again for another couple months, ha!

We had a really fun 4th of July this year! We were so lucky to be able to spend it in Washington DC! We went to the beach for part of the day and then headed downtown later that night for the fireworks! It was one of the BEST shows I have seen in a long time...( I don't really remember much about fireworks, because if you know me, you know I HATE loud noises, but I was able to suck it up and really enjoy the fireworks!!)

It was pretty surreal to be in the nations capital for such a significant time in our countries history! We sat in front of the National Monument with the reflecting pool and Lincoln Memorial in front of us, and the White House to the right of us! IT was pretty cool :)

I'm so thankful to be a citizen of this amazing country, and enjoy all the freedoms I know I take for granted everyday. Hope ya'll all had a great 4th! :)

Believe it or not, were leaving again this summer! This time we will be living in Washington DC. Were leaving end of April and coming back end on August! Its gonna be another exciting summer, full of adventures! :)

Jake's Break

So as most of ya'll know Jake had to get surgery this past week. We went down to Texas just after the New Year and that is where it all started. He went to play basketball with Josh and came home with a balloon hand! He thought it was just a jam, so that didn't stop him from golfing everyday!

We came home and about 3 weeks went by, and Jake had been snowboarding, went shooting, had been working out and lifting heavy weights with this hand. He never really complains so when he was saying his hand was still killing him and he couldn't sleep at night I knew it was more then a jam! He FINALLY went to get it xrayed!

Last Saturday he went to the Insta-care. The doctor said it was a really bad break and he needed to go to a hand specialist. So on Tuesday he went to Dr. Hammond( he was such a great doctor) and he said we had 2 choices, he can have it heal on its own and his finger wont ever be the same, it will be crooked and he will get arthritis in the next couple years, or get surgery and put pins in his finger to straighten the bone. Dr. Hammond suggest we get him into surgery as soon as possible. He had an opening the next day, so they were able to squeeze Jake in!

Jake's break had chipped the whole corner off his bone, and it was floating in his hand. It had already started healing so Dr. Hammond had to scrap away all the extra cartilage that had been healing in the gaps.

Surgery went great and Jake was such a great patient. He is so easy to take care of and is so grateful for everything:) Thanks to everyone for thinking of Jake, we really do appreciate it :) and thank goodness for great medical care!

Jake's Birthday and Park City

My sweet husband turned 27 this past Friday. He thinks he's sooo old, but I always remind him he is still in his 20's! He went and got his back adjusted by Ben, which he loves! He has been wanted a Sonicare toothbrush for the longest time, so I finally got it for him :)We also had a fun dinner with friends and family and after we had ice cream cake ( Jake's favorite)!

Saturday night we headed up to Park city to watch a snowboarding competition! It was so cool to see how high those guys get! It was really cold, but well worth the fun! On our way back from park city, we were in the WORST snow storm I have ever been in. Once we got home my shoulders were so sore from tensing up the whole time! Luckily Jake is great when it comes to any motor vehicle! Thanks Binghams for the invite! We had tons of fun!!

Snow Mobiling in West Yellowstone

So for the New Year Jake and I went to West Yellowstone! It was a blast. We went with some of our friends from this summer Matt and Heather Slater! We staying in this beautiful Lodge called Worldmark. I was able to have my own snowmobile for two of the days and It was a blast. We had all the gear to keep us warm. It was so fun to be out in the snow and not be cold at all, I was a little nervous I wasn't going to like it because I don't really love the cold, but I was so warm! I felt like we were dressed to land on the moon. The last day snowmobiling It was snowing so hard all day and there was tons of power for the boys to explore in. I stayed in the groomed trails with the pack snow! For New Years Eve we went to this yummy pizza place and later that night we went back to the Lodge and sat around the fire! Jake and I talk about maybe making this a tradition, Thanks Matt and Heather for coming with us, we had a blast :)

Christmas

This year was Christmas time with the Palmer family. It was my first Christmas away from Texas! We spent Christmas Eve with Jake's dad and had tons of food! We did coconut shrimp, flank steak, chicken salad sandwiches, vinaigrette salad, and yummy Oreo balls. We all sat around the fire and played catch phrase, It's my new favorite game! I forgot how fun it was :)

On Christmas day we spent time with Jake's mom and got to see Beck and Grace have so much fun with opening presents! Jake got me all new snow clothes and a New GPS!! He did such a great job. Jake was also so happy to get new snow boarding boots (Thanks mom and dad!) and a new DeWalt drill! After the morning we went sledding, which was really fun to be able to do since I haven't seen that much snow on Christmas day!

I was so much fun to be able to spend time with family and enjoy each others company. I love this time of the year ( minus the cold) and always look forward to spending time with family :)

Thanksgiving in Park City

I Have alot of catching up to do!!

For Thanksgiving Jake and I went to Park City and spent the Holiday with my family! It was so much fun! We stayed in this amazing cabin! It had a big game room with a ping pong/pool table, Movie room, and amazing kitchen, Hot tub, every shower was a steam shower, work out/ poker room, 2 look out decks, and enough space for my big family :) Jake and I stayed in the the bunk bed room with Brittany and the Hodsons. We loved it :) It was so great to spend time with Jacquelyn, Josh and Lincoln, since they live in Texas. Thanks giving is one of my favorite holidays cause I love all the yummy food! My mom of course put on a great spread and I'm so grateful for such an amazing time we had!

So we are FINALLY near the end of this endless summer! I made a little chain countdown for Jake. Every day he comes home he gets to pull off the number of sales he got! His actual goal is 305, but I put 310 just for extra motivation! I cant wait to leave California and hang up this chapter of our lives.

We were all at In-n-out burger and we asked his guy what is there to do around here in Modesto. He said there is a really cool bridge jump we could go to. So that day the boys in the office went to see what it was like and spend half the day there (instead of working)! So the next day they brought us! When we go there we have to walk along rail road tracks that were about 35-40 feet high! It was so scary! So once we made it to the place were you jumped i told myself I wasn't going to do it because it was soooo high! So as you can see peer pressure got the best of my and I did it! It was so fun, but the water was FREEEZING! I probably wont go back to this bridge, but at least I can say I did it! ;)

So I just barley got some pictures from Santa Cruz! We went the second weekend we were out here in California. I was alot of fun, we found a cute little beach where the girls could lay out at and the boys played numerous of different games! Jake decided to have the others bury him in the sand and see if he could get out without any help! He put some goggles on to protect his eyes and it reminded of when my dad put goggles on to protect his eyes when he chainsawed the tree in my parents back yard! Haha!

Santa Cruz is such a cute little town. They have small little shops and the houses are all painted different colors, the town reminded me alot of Mykonos Greece! After the beach we went to the Santa Cruz boardwalk, there were tons of rides and beach to play on! It really is so fun to be able to go somewhere different every weekend and create all these different memories!

I cant believe it's been a whole year! What an amazing year, i couldn't have asked for a better man to spend eternity with! He makes me so happy! We went to San Francisco and spend 2 days there. We went to Alcatraz, it was so interesting. I went when I was little and i didn't really remember much so it was cool to be able to go back. After that we went to the Hotel and got dresses for dinner and the play. We went to this amazing restaurant called First Crush! I got the rib eye and Jake got the Lamb, it was honestly the best food we have had at a restaurant in a LONG time! If your ever there we definitely recommend it! After dinner we headed over to the Orpheum Theatre and went to see Wicked!!! I was amazing!!!:) The next day we went to the Giants game! It was such a great game! The Giants were behind the whole game then in the 6th inning they hit a Grand Slam!! After that the Rockies couldn't come back and The Giants won 9-5. It was such a cool stadium right on McCovey Cove, I'm so glad i can check that one off my list :) It was such a great weekend and I'm so glad i got to spend it with Jake! I love you!

Birthday in San Fran

I had such an amazing birthday, I woke up that morning to some yummy blueberry pancakes! I think the first time I have ever had breakfast in bed. Jake also gave me a new camera, I was so excited because now i don't have to rely on the other wives to take pictures :) We then decided to go to San Francisco for my birthday and just walk around to see some sights (were going this next weekend again for our anniversary). It was really fun, we were able to go see Pier 39 and Fisher Man's wharf, The Golden Gate Bridge, and Lombard Street! At the end of the day Jake surprised me with a yummy cake. It was sooo good, It had strawberry filling and Bavarian cream in the middle! I honestly couldn't of asked for a more perfect birthday! Thanks everyone for my birthday wishes:) Love ya'll!

Wish They All Could Be California Girls!

Yep believe it or not were moving! And as you can see from the picture its near San Francisco. We will be living in a little city about 45 min outside called Walnut Creek! Its very close to where my bother-in-law grew up and where my sister lived for her first year of marriage! I was able to chat with her and find out some fun things to do out there. Like i said its only 45 min from San Francisco so I'm excited to go there with Jake. He has never been and I went out there when my sister got married so it will be fun to go back. Im so excited to see Alcatraz, Lombard street, Ghirardelli Square, take a trolley ride, and of course a new baseball stadium to visit!

We ship out our car Saturday, then fly out to the sunny state that same day! Just like Ohio it will be an adventure! We will most likely be there till mid September, then its back to Salt Lake :) But as for California, here we come!

We had such a fun time in Cleavland this past Sunday! We will most likely be leaving Ohio and moving to either California or Kentucky, so we decided to FINALLY go to a ball game in Cleavland! The Indians played the Mariners, it was sooo nice to be at the ball park and get a hot dog! There is nothing like going to baseball game :) We also had to opportunity to go to Kirkland and see the Temple and visit the church sites there. After that we headed back to Cleavland and had pizza on the lake! It was so much fun :) I'm really gonna miss Ohio!

We had a great time in Columbus on the 4th of July! The boys were suppose to work, but instead they decided to take the day off for one of my favorite holidays( except when the sun goes down...fireworks ) The day was pretty overcast and rainy, but we still made the best of it! We started off the morning with an office breakfast. We had french toast with strawberries and blueberries ( very patriotic). then we just hung out at the pool, had some BBQ and watched the fireworks! It was fun to be able to spend the day with friends and celebrate our independence!

We were so lucky to be able to "Witness" the Cavs play in Cleveland! The boys worked till about 5 that day and we all headed up to Cleveland! As you pulled up next to the stadium there is a picture on the side of the building saying, " We are all Witnesses" with LaBron trowing chalk in the air! Thats what he dose at the beginning of every game! It was a pretty intense game, from start to finish! They were ahead by 20 in the first half, then the magic came back, but the cavs pulled threw in the end! Even though we had a blast, it made me love cheering for the Rockets or the Astros even more, I will always be a fan :)!

Well we have been here in Ohio for over a month now and I still haven't blogged. After the FULL 2 day drive we arrived and were very excited to explore what we would be calling home for the next couple of months! We live in Dublin, it's an outskirt of Columbus, The area is very green and has so many walking trails (reminds me very much of Sugar Land). The weather has been kinda crazy since we've been here and hasn't stayed at all consistent... One day its rainy, the next day its sunny, then cold, then burning hot... I just cant keep up. Another thing that reminds me of home is the humidity!! Its not as bad as Houston, but we do miss those dry, perfect summer nights in Utah!

Jake's schedule out here is so crazy. He typically has his meetings around 11:30-12:00 then goes out and start knocking and doesn't get home until 930 or 10!! Its a weird schedule, but its something we've just had to adapt to!

NOW I know where Josh gets his Ohio State pride! Everyone out here is crazy for that team! one of these weekends we plan on walking around Ohio State campus to go see the famous Horseshoe!

All in all we are having a blast out here! Meeting new people and going to to new places! The best part about it is we get to do it together :)

We were so lucky to be able to go to the Jazz game and sit in the box seats. I have to say i don't think i have ever been to a sporting event in box seats. I used to go to the rodeo with my friends and he dad had box seats, but i have never been to a live sporting event! It was so much fun!

We ate fajitas, and for dessert there was an amazing apple cobbler with cold vanilla ice cream

Even though I'm not a big Jazz fan, I'm still a big sports fan and we had a blast! The jazz even won after being down 17 points. Thanks so much Brian and Jess for inviting us to the game :)

I got a call on my way home from work, and Jakes said you better get ready for the game! Even though the Rockets lost to the Jazz ( who are 18-2 at home) It was so fun to be there! Go Rockets!!!

Twin Cities

Well looks like we are going to be in Minnesota for the summer. Jake works for a company called Pinnacle Security, and every summer he has gone out and sold securities! I'm sure hes happy he has me to tag along with him this time. His office as decided to go to Minnesota, and it looks like it will be a fun place to hang out for the summer. There's the Mall of America, tons of lakes, and the Twins even play the Astros in June! So, at the end of April we will pack up and get ready to take a road trip to Minnesota!

The Biggest Loser

Lindsey and I started our training for the "Butler Biggest Loser" this week. We all weighed in at Suze and Jeff's house last sunday and since then we have been on fire. Maybe it was a good wakeup call to see how just a few months of poor eating and not excersising can deteriorate your muscle and help you pack on the pounds! Lindsey and I are extremely motivated. Our fridge is packed with Salmon (which I am slowly getting Lindsey to tolerate), chickem, spinach, fruits, wheat bread and pasta, eggs, and vegetables of every kind. Lindsey managed to somehow sneak a box of "fruit" roll-ups past me at the checkout, but besides that we are loaded with the good stuff.

We hit the gym every day this week except for Thursday and Sunday. The only reason we didn't go thursday is because we were too sore to even move, and of course not on Sunday because the gym was closed. Haha.

So anyways, week one has been a success. Just 15 more weeks and we'll be rollin' in dough!

Snowy Saturday

We just had a fun saturday at the sugar house park! We got all bundled up and went out sleding Saturday after to snow storm that passed through. It was so much fun to see Beck sled for the first time! I have to admit I dont mind the snow if were doing something fun, But i still cant wait for the 80 degree weather in TEXAS!!

We've had a fun couple of months here in Utah. I got a new job for a company called Ocean Grown International , Jake is still studying for his insurance test ( he will be taking it in the new year), We have an adorable new nephew named Linclon and a sweet new niece named Marin, We went to Vegas for Thanksgiving, Our Condo flooded while we were gone, and we just barley got everything repaired and were so excited to finally be living without fans and concrete! :)

I know I have not blogged in forever but we finally figured out where were gonna live and i think were stuck here for a couple years! We have been to Iowa, Nebraska ( where we stayed in an extended stay for about a month), Parkers Mom's House, Momma D's House ( jakes grandma or coin purse :) ) and now were finally in our condo in Sugar House! We love it and were so excited were here!

So Jake and I are back in Utah. Were living in Parker's moms basement for the next little bit until this short sale goes through (keep your fingers crossed for us). The Sunday we got here was Conference, and before we unpacked our lives out of the back of the Passat, Jess and I decided to make a yummy treat while we watched conference. A little bit from my recipe and a little bit from her recipe made the BEST Cinnamon monkey bread ever!!

Well its true, we moved to Nebraska. Its alot bigger area for Jake to work and he will do alot better out here! It's kinda crazy to have to move around alot, but its fun to have some kinda of adventure! There were some pictures of us at Winter Quarters, the temple is closed for cleaning so we could'nt go. BUt in a week we will be able to go! Im excited :)

How it Began...

Well i thought it would be appropriate to bog about me and Jake's story for our first blog! We both were in the BYU 221st ward in Provo. The first night i met Jake me and my roommate Kambria went up to there apartment to visit Jake's roommate Jeremy Bell. Jake was up there packing for his "trip around the world". I have to admit i was kinda sad that he would be leaving for 3 months b/c i wanted to get to know him! We just started talking about all the different placing he was going to go ( i had just gotten back from a trip with my parents and he would be visiting some the exact same places)I guess you could say we kinda hit it off. :) So, me and Kambria left and went to go out to dinner, but as we walked across the grass Jake jumps out on the balcony and yells out, "I love you Lindsey, Kambria please take care of her for me until i get back!" I thought to myself what a weirdo!

So 3 long cold months passed and It was the start of the new year. I remember one night in January we went out for FHE to the Stake Presidents house. Jake came in and i had to take a double look b/c i knew i had seen him around before, and then it clicked, he was the boy that i have talked to before he went out on his world travels. He then looked over at me and smiled and tried to get my attention b/c i was wearing a UofU shirt. I thought to myself who is this boy...( i am not going to give him any attention at all!!) The next couple of weeks went by and i had seen him out and about and there was a casual hi that went back and forth. Then out of no where he was always where i was hanging out with the same people and going to the same events. We started to become really really good friends! WE would go to volleyball games, go camping, go out to dinner, watch the office together, go to baseball games together, and go to the pool and hot tub,we just had so much fun! I never really liked him more then a friend... i just always thought...Jake Palmer, one of my best friends!

That semester was finally over and it was time for him to go out selling for the summer! i have to say i was really sad :( My best friend was going to leave me for 4 months! we talked on the phone every night and texted all day, He had told me he really liked me, but i wasn't sure if i was starting to like him or not... i don't think i was ready for that. Finally the summer was over and he came back! A couple weeks went by and i went on dates with a bunch of different guys, but i always came back to Jake and would love to see him after my dates. There was one sunday when i saw him at church and i had finally made up my mind... i wanted to date him! I called him up on my way home from family dinner at aunt suz and uncle jeffs and told him i wanted to talk with him... We then dated for about 2 weeks and i was already headed down to St. George to Meet his family. After that weekend we decided to be boyfriend and girlfriend and that's how it all began!! I couldn't have asked for a better Husband!
